About SMVS!

I grew up on a small hobby farm in Gaston, SC and graduated from Swansea High School in 2009.  I went on to attend Clemson University, where I earned my Bachelor's of Animal and Veterinary Sciences with a Pre-Veterinary emphasis in 2013.  I then attended Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where I graduated with my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2017.  Growing up with several different types of animals, I never pick favorite species and try to provide the best care for all species great and small needing my help.  I am currently a mixed animal relief veterinarian, meaning I provide veterinary care for most all species.  As my business grows, I've been adding more species along the way as I'm able to buy more equipment and medications.   I have provided relief services around the state, filling in at a few clinics when other doctors need to be out for various reasons.

Growing up in a rural area, I completely understand the lack of availability of veterinary care in these areas.  I understand that often means that pets rarely, or never, receive the care they need.  This obviously poses more risks and health concerns for pets and livestock, even death in some cases unfortunately.   This can also pose dangers to owners as well in the case of zoonotic diseases or diseased livestock intended for human consumption.  By providing an accessible mobile veterinary service, I hope to combat many of these concerns for the community and the environment.  I also am able to help at animal shelters and rescues that do not have a veterinarian on staff and I LOVE MY SHELTER BABIES!  I really like to focus on the"One Health" concept of keeping humans, animals, and the environment healthy.

Growing up, I helped my mother deliver for the Meals-on-Wheels program for the home bound elderly and disabled around the Midlands.  I realized then, that their pets were therefore likely not leaving the house for vet care either.  I now love working with senior and community centers to provide veterinary care for these pets as well.  Some of these pets are also just too big for owners to lift or get into a vehicle to come into a clinic.  Often times though, these pets are sole companions or service pets for many of these owners.  I want to help keep them around longer and healthier for their owners who love and need them most!

Education has always been very important to me.  I regularly travel to and assist with several veterinary conferences each year and attend regular monthly continuing education classes.   I take every opportunity to learn and in turn, teach younger aspiring students.  I've been grateful to continue working with amazing high school, pre-vet, and veterinary students along the way, having students in my truck almost every day.  I absolutely love going to schools to speak with students, attend career fairs, check on class pets, and work with 4-H and FFA agricultural groups.  I have partnered with local feed/pet stores to provide general "Pet Talks", Q&As, and small demo labs on minor procedures such as dog nail trims, goat hoof trims, etc.  I have been stoked to provide lectures and labs for my colleagues at the SC Association of Veterinarian's Conference, as well as the Southeast Veterinary Conference on backyard poultry medicine! I've been honored to be part of the SC Association of Veterinarians Inaugural Power of 10 Class of 2026 focusing on professional development, mental health in the veterinary field, leadership development, veterinary legislative involvement, and more! Every year, I look forward to attending veterinary conferences all over, such as the Veterinary Leadership Conference, and the Veterinary Leadership Experience where I originally attended as a student in vet school and now return as a facilitator for a week of life changing leadership development and mental health within my veterinary community!  And I am co-leading SC Region 3 as part of the SC Veterinary Reserve Corps in the event of natural disasters needing animal and veterinary emergency care, sheltering, mobilization, and more.  By spreading learning tools and resources, we can all live happier, healthier lives with our critters together!  It takes a village!

In my limited free time, I also LOVE afro-latin dancing and even teaching dance, such as salsa, bachata, kizomba, zouk, and more.  I love traveling all over the world, especially for dance and veterinary events, such as WSAVA which changes the hosting country each year.  This opens our eyes to veterinary needs and educational opportunities around the world with different resources.  I have found that this also gives me even more opportunity to meet other pet owners, veterinarians, and fellow "Dancing DVMs" in the dance scene!  I have even had the amazing opportunity to provide volunteer veterinary work in Costa Rica and Nicaragua and of course danced with the local folks while I was there!  I am always looking for ways to work with different groups and to provide veterinary care and education in creative ways.  I can't wait to meet you all and your animals!
